University of Sahiwal Kicks Off Sports Gala 2026

The University of Sahiwal officially commenced its much-anticipated Sports Gala 2026 with great enthusiasm, as the Badminton Tournament marked the inaugural event of the grand sporting festival. The opening ceremony was graced by the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar, along with Registrar Syed Ghulam Ali Asghar, and other esteemed Academic and Administrative Heads. The Vice Chancellor formally inaugurated the tournament and interacted with the participating students, encouraging them to actively engage in the diverse range of sporting activities. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and a balanced lifestyle. He further appreciated the vibrant participation of students and reaffirmed the University’s dedication to fostering both academic and extracurricular excellence.
The Sports Gala 2026 is being organized by the Directorate of Sports under the leadership of Dr. Hafiz Tariq Masood. The event encompasses a variety of competitions including Cricket, Football, Tug of War, Kabaddi, Athletics, and Badminton. All sports events are being conducted separately for male and female students to ensure inclusivity and equal participation opportunities.
Alongside the athletic competitions, several co-curricular activities such as Mehndi design, Makeup artistry, and Cooking competitions are also being organized, particularly engaging female students and showcasing their creative skills. The campus has come alive with energy and excitement as students, faculty, and staff unite to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition. The University administration commended the Directorate of Sports and all supporting teams for their dedicated efforts in organizing the event.
