The University of Sahiwal marked a significant milestone today with the successful conclusion of its first-ever rigorous and transformative 4-week faculty training program, held under the umbrella of the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) National Outreach Plan for Higher Education Faculty.
The grand closing ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor of University of Sahiwal, Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Syed Habib Bokhari, the founding Vice Chancellor of Kohsar University Murree, as the Guest of Honor. The event brought together academic and administrative heads, faculty members and distinguished participants in a celebration of professional development and academic excellence.
A total of 28 lecturers and assistant professors from Departments of Applied Psychology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English, Law and Physics were awarded certificates of completion by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) after successfully participating in the intensive training program, which ran from May 5 to May 30, 2025. The program was hosted and coordinated by Dr. Muhammad Ayyoub, who led the effort to ensure impactful learning and meaningful engagement throughout the training.
Participants engaged in nine comprehensive modules designed to enhance pedagogical skills, research capacity, psychological wellbeing, leadership and digital competencies. These modules were delivered by highly respected resource persons hailing from some of Pakistan’s most prestigious institutions, including NUST, IIUI, GCU, FJWC, COMSATS, MY University, and IUB. The respected resource persons included Prof. Asghar Nadeem Syed, Prof. Dr. Syed Habib Bokhari, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ul Hassan Chishti, Prof. Dr. Imran Shafi, Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Zaib Khattak, Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool, Dr. Salma Nazar Khan, Dr. Kashif Suhail Malik and Dr. Abid Hussain Shahzad.
During the ceremony, both Prof. Dr. Javaid Akhtar and Prof. Dr. Syed Habib Bokhari emphasized the critical role of continuous professional development in strengthening higher education. They commended the participants for their dedication and applauded the initiative as a model for faculty development across the country.
The Training Coordinator, Dr. Muhammad Ayyoub, expressed heartfelt gratitude to NAHE, HEC, the resource persons, guest speakers, the University of Sahiwal administration and all participants for their unwavering support and active involvement. He highlighted the transformative impact the training had on faculty perspectives and practices.
Feedback from some attendees (Dr. Muhammad Waseem Tufail, Dr. Hafiz Tariq Masood, Dr. Saira Aziz, Dr. Alia Manzoor and Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Awais) was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the training as “highly useful, insightful, and professionally empowering.” The program is expected to have a lasting impact on teaching quality, research engagement and academic leadership at the University of Sahiwal and beyond.
